He crossed over, breaking the barrier for all mankind. With a mighty rushing River, paving a way for those who lived before, along with those who were not yet born. His love is a mighty River of Grace. His heart rushes with the soft flow of heaven refreshing it’s people both day and night, they are well provided for. They draw up in the spirit what the world cannot give them. The gaze of the Son of God, let’s out an overwhelming flow of His love. His heart and compassion relay His goodness without a single word being spoken. It is a River of Grace flowing through Him. A River of Grace depicts His great love for you.

It is common amongst abuse survivors, especially pertaining to those who have gone through childhood abuse, that nearness to the Lord can be difficult. For me, it had the opposite affect. In fact, the safest place for me to be is in the presence of the Lord.
His intentions are always good, and are never to harm those in His care. He didn’t create us to be abused, but created us with the ability to cope, so that we could survive if we needed to. The enemy however, after causing such harm, such pain, and such destruction, tries then to deceive hearts who have been wounded into believing that the Lord allowed harm. He attempts to push the blame on God who is Holy! When it is the enemy who is evil, who is deceptive and who is cruel.
I am thankful that from a young age, the Lords kindness was made known to me. Before my innocence was lost, I remember as a child, eagerly waiting to pray. Loving to meet the Lord with the words of my lips, and the whole of my heart. I knew…that He was good…that He was kind…and that there could be no other like Him.
Some reading this right now, may be on the other side of knowing. On the side of still feeling walled up…I want you to know that the Lord loves you, He is safe, in fact He is the safest place you could ever find yourself. Your heart is always securely held in the palm of His hands. I pray that this blesses you and sets your heart free to know the true love of the Father. Even if it’s just the first steps of cracking the door of your heart. If you taste, you will see that He is good. He will bring healing where the enemy brought so much destruction. He will bring wholeness, and purpose, and in the areas where the enemy stole, the Lord will give you back more beauty, fulfillment and life than you could have ever imagined. There was no length He wouldn’t go to get to us. There was no mountain too high, and there was no distance too great...Jesus counted the cost...and took up His cross for...us. That we would know Him, that we would be one with the Father. That we would through Him conquer death, break the chains of sin, and overcome this world. This piece is a reminder of raw, unwavering, unending and endlessly devoted love to us. How lucky and how blessed we are to know Him.

This is a very special piece to me, not only because I have loved lions since I was a child and my name means Beautiful Butterfly, but more importantly I had a vision of this image as it represents the season of life I find myself in.
In this season I find myself being challenged with a new level of growth, a new level of excellence and a new level of transformation like never before. But one thing is for sure, change is not easy, sometimes it takes all of our strength. It leaves a feeling like we have given every last drop to the process. And not only may it be the case, but it is also the necessary ingredient to make the transformation complete.
That is what the butterfly teaches us. Without the struggle in the cocoon...its wings will fail to develop and it will never properly mature, it will never be able to fly. Instead, the butterfly will fall to the ground crippled and that's where it will die. Never reaching its potential, it will never even know what it missed out on, how could it? It will only know struggle, despair and the view from the ground. This is the price of failing to grow. You see it is the resistance of the cocoon that creates the enviornment for growth to strength the butterflies wings to properly develop.
While it all sounds beautiful, change can be scary, and growth extremely difficult. It takes courage to be honest with yourself and others, to acknowledge when we need to change. To lean into the process and to embrace the discomfort that lies ahead. But when we do...what comes about is nothing short of beautiful, nothing short of breathtaking....setting the stage for others to enjoy the beauty of a struggle they may never know.
If you find yourself facing the pain of growth and change...I pray you will find the strength and courage to brave the struggle and to embrace the beauty that comes along with change...God has you, imagine His arms are the cocoon that surrounds you...trust His faithfulness...that He is bringing about a masterpiece in you...that looks more like Him. I love you and my heart and prayers are for you, to preserve, to succeed and to know His love more deeply along this beautiful journey of life.

I completed this piece on January 20, 2021. It is appropriate as we in this great nation have seen a great travesty take place before our very eyes. But from the ashes, we will rise, America will remember Her God once more, and will once again become the beacon of hope God always intended her to be. She will be a city on a hill that cannot be hidden, a great light in the darkness. And those who treasure her, will rise to see her freedoms restored.
