Perfect Pilot's Glasses

These sunglasses are the first >$20 pair of sunglasses that I've ever bought and so far I'd say they are worth every penny. They are perfect for my purpose: flying in bright Southern California. I've had them a bit over a week now and have used them extensively when driving to work as well as on three flights.

The Great:
- incredibly clear and even optics. No distortion, no uneven light passthrough. Best sunglasses optics I've worn.
- no "polarized sheen". I detest polarized glasses because everything looks like it has a slick of oil across it. These don't exhibit that issue.
- solid feeling without being excessively heavy
- easy to clean: the entire front face is one even piece that is easy to wipe with a microfiber cloth
- I've gotten many compliments wearing them about their looks

The Good:
- blocks all direct light from top and sides. However they don't block the bottom fully. However, for my purpose in a cockpit, you don't have bright light coming from below so these are very good. Someone using them outside might have lots of reflection off of the ground or water from below.
- price: I've worn a few friends' pairs of much more expensive glasses and these are optically much better and I would say a good deal. As mentioned above, I'm more of a "$5 gas station sunglasses" guy but I really like these and would recommend them to other pilots.

The Okay:
- these sunglasses block your peripheral vision with the opaque sides. For a pilot, that's not really a problem as I'm not looking for motion directly to my sides. However, I would NOT recommend these for driving as I find myself cocking my head when checking my blind spot to peer below the bottom of the glasses (as that area isn't actually covered; see "Good" point above)

I'm a RC & Full-scale Pilot and I bought a pair of these at Joe Nall back in 2007 and they are still in amazing shape other than I sat on the case and broke one of the little side clips but I was able to drill a hole in both pieces and glued them back together.

I love, love, love these glasses. I wish I'd ordered the medium and not the dark but the fit is great and the squinting is gone.

Fabulous Sun Glasses

I bought a pair of these at the Miami Boat show back in 1990 and I can't say enough about them. They have worked in every condition and type of weather I've been in, from snow to blinding sun. I wore prescription glasses when I first bought them, but I've been in contacts for years and these glasses sure do make driving easier in day light or night time glare. I highly recommend them for anyone who has a problem with glare.

I have 3 other pairs of Zurich sunglasses. They are the BEST. Excellent UV protection, colors look great with excellent contrast. As a pilot, I want the best for my eyes!

I LOVE THEM-After my eye surgery in 2008, I received a coupon to pick out any sunglasses in the Bushnell store in Kansas City. I chose a pair by Serengeti and I thought I would never find anything better-BUT I HAVE. The extreme glare is just what I was looking for, Thank you

I have not had an opportunity to wear them on bright sunny days. I have noted these sunglasses do not have the distortion that you get from $5 sunglasses.

So far just tried them while driving. Build quality is good and they fit well. I did notice that with the sun behind me it came in through the louvers on the sides and reflect a little. These are the dark ones, so in a car, might be a bit too dark and the reflections are noticeable. I fly a sailplane which is where I plan to use these glasses, and in the cockpit it's very bright, and I don't fly with a low sun angle very often, so the backlit glare likely won't be an issue. Color and contrast are very good and I didn't notice any optical distortions.

Brilliant face on these glasses, and the darkness blocks out enough of the Florida sun that I haven't the slightest squint. This pair is worth every single cent I paid. I'm telling my best buds about them.
